Dr Salti, accompanied by fellow neurologist Dr Mekideche, were in Egypt from December 13 to 23 to treat children who have been evacuated from Gaza. These children are all injured as a result of the current attacks and bombardments.

Other children from Sudan and, of course, Egypt were also treated. These countries are among the poorest in the world, and the state of health of these children is also precarious.

The 10-day program included:

• Medical consultations to initiate and evaluate further care

• Planning operations for children who need them

• Neurological tests for small patients with head injuries and/or paralysis

• Treatment management for children with chronic illnesses
